Rain Rain Go Away

The last two days have been anything but quiet, whew, yesterday I went on a 3 hour free tour of the city, I learned a lot, in one ear a out the other. Brandenburg Gate was the first stop, then to other areas such as Checkpoint Charlie, which is now is a tourist haven and very gimmicky. However what is sobering is the Berlin Wall, I also went to the Jewish Memorial, make it what you will, I would still like to go the the underground museum and will most likely do that tomorrow. Today was a long day, sort of, since it's sunday nothing really opens until noon. So I went to The Berlin Cathedral, I also went to Museum Island, which consists of 5 museums, mostly filled with pieces from Italy and Egypt.

Hm I think I already learned all I could about Italy last year during the 2 week tour, although I was trying to find the German Museum and it took me a while to find it, by then I had lost my pass for all the museums, but the ticket lady asked which museums i'd been to, I told her and she gave me another ticket, that was pretty awesome. I also went to the street vendors, some things looked neat other things looked cheap. Lots of Asian things, of coarse there's a lot of Asian supermarkets and restaurants. So far it's been pretty rainy here, mostly rain in the afternoon, but today it rained most of the day. Maybe a boat tour tomorrow? It's my last day tomorrow of full sightseeing so I have to make it count, who knows when or if i'll be back here. Pictures will eventually come soon, I still need to load them on my computer, I know how to do it, it's the question of when i'll do it. Anyway tah for for now

Getting lost is part of the fun

Ok, so let me start from yesterday, it was a long day, I got the train to Berlin just fine from the main station in Frankfurt. Then I got to Hauptbhanhof station in Berlin and that's where the fun began, I had to transfer two stations somehow, of couse not knowing where to go. However with help from station attendents I found my way easily enough, When I got to the area where my hostel was I had to ask for directions, lo and behold my hostel was the next street over when I asked a store clerk where the street was, actually I had to show her on a map since she didn't speak English. Anyway I got to the hostel and I was pretty tired so I didn't do much other then get a bite to eat and get some things like shampoo and conditioner, yay. This morning I went out thinking the subways would be easy to navigate not so much, I kept on looking at the subway maps, they did't make much sense. So I ended up taking a hop on hop off tour, which is probably the best thing to do to give you a sense of where you are and where you want to go. Funny how you can't find something and all of a sudden it's right there in front of you, All I needed to do to get to the Museum Island was go down a couple more blocks.  Tomorrow is exploratory day more so than today. I'm excited for the museums.

Pictures are coming eventually, I haven't taken that much but I still gotta figure out how to put them on the computer, maybe Sunday.

Frankfurt

I finally made it to Frankfurt this morning, yesterday seems so far away, but so far so good. I made a wrong turn at the train station to get to the hostel, but I found it. I'm so tired right now but I gotta stay up, met some interesting people, I talked with a guy from Finland who just finished up 7 weeks all around Europe, wow I think 6 weeks is enough for me. Pictures will get on this blog eventually. That's all for now.

Oh the Places I'll Go

I decided that i'm starting this blog for everyone who wants to know what i'm up to when i'm traveling around Europe for 5 weeks. I decided back in May or June, that I had enough money after working for my mom that I was, A) either going to move out or B) travel....guess which one I chose. Anyway I started looking around the internet about women who traveled solo, many of my friends are either still in school or have full time jobs. Europe didn't become a reality until the end of June when I booked my plane ticket to Frankfurt and then booked the train tickets and then finally booking the hostels. A lot of the people that I talked to either thought I was crazy for traveling alone or thought it was the coolest thing, which it is.   However my mom decided to sign me up for Self Defense classes, and I agreed, it was the best decision, Tim, my teacher is a Jiu Jitsu instructor and a former bodybuilder and wrestler.
I'll be headed to Germany, France and Belgium, i'll also trying to keep up this blog as well as adding pictures everyday. Sharing a journey is the best part. So next time you hear from me i'll be somewhere in Germany.
